Service Description

Textile Art Workshop with Dorothy Ronaldson. Date: Thursday 21st March Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm We provide tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits, but please bring a packed lunch. About Dorothy’s workshop A fun day exploring a variety of techniques.  Firstly manipulating wire to create petal shapes. These are then wrapped with fine silk strips and lace if desired. Before painting and hand stitching. A range of stitches are employed. Such as french knots, blanket stitch, fly stitch and feather stitch. The petals are then assembled and a centre is created using felt, textured yarn and beading. You should be able to complete one flower in the workshop. These can be made into brooches or combined together to create a 3D picture.  The following will be provided included in the cost of the workshop:  Wire  Silk  Lace  Silk paint  Glue  Stranded embroidery thread and fine perle thread  Felt  Textured yarn  Bugle beads  Seed beads  Brooch backs Please note - You would need to bring the following: - Small wire cutters  - Fabric and thread cutting scissors  - A fine to medium sized paint brush  - Medium size crewel or milliners needle for embroidery  - Beading needle or small crewel needle if you find a beading needle difficult to thread  These items can be sourced from specialist stockists such as Lingards in Sudbury or various online sources. This workshop is an introduction to a new and exciting medium, which hopefully will inspire you to explore the further possibilities at home. What to wear Comfortable clothing that you would not mind getting paint on or an apron. Access The course takes place in the upper gallery which is not suitable for wheelchair access. SPACES ARE LIMITED ON OUR COURSES. BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.

Cancellation Policy

Places on our courses will be allocated on a first come, first served basis once payment has been received. Completing the application form without also making payment does not reserve a place on the course. All applicants must pay after submitting their form to guarantee a place on their chosen course. Refunds and Cancellations Cancellations are permitted up to one week before the start of a course, subject to a £25 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 72 hours before the start of a course. Students who do not attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments do not have the right to a refund. Access The workshop takes place in the upper gallery which is not suitable for wheel chair access. Please notify the Gallery if participants have physical disabilities or special learning needs. Tell us about your needs in confidence by or by phone 01787 376796. Safety Aerosol fixative sprays and smoking are not permitted in the building. The use of mobile telephones, radios, personal stereos is not allowed. Please take care of your belongings at all times and never leave valuables unattended. We regret that we cannot be held responsible for the loss of participants’ belongings. Participants must make sure that they take all work and belongings away at the end of the class.
