Service Description

Learn how to design, carve and print your own unique lino-cut prints under the guidance of local artist Beth Knight. All necessary materials and tools will be provided. This relaxing tutor lead workshop is designed to be an introduction for beginners to the process of lino cut printmaking, the tools required, how to translate a design into lino, transferring a design on to the lino block, carving out a design in lino with tips on cutting techniques, experience and advice on hand printing on to paper producing at least one print to take home. You are invited to bring your own simple 10.5x15cm size design, but suitable designs will also provided. Please bring a box or folder to transport your prints home safely. (Finished prints will be approx. 15x20cm). About your tutor: Beth Knight is a qualified designer & illustrator with a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design & Illustration. Using her lino-printing skills she will teach you the basics of this traditional form of printing. See Beth Knight's blog 'Creating the River Stour print' for an insight into her work. Beginners are welcome on all of our workshops and so are experienced artists wanting to explore or develop new techniques. What to wear Comfortable old clothing that you do not mind the possibility of getting a little inky! An apron is also useful if you have one. Light refreshments will be available. Cancellation Policy

Places on our courses will be allocated on a first come, first served basis once payment has been received. Completing the application form without also making payment does not reserve a place on the course. All applicants must pay after submitting their form to guarantee a place on their chosen course. Refunds and Cancellations Cancellations are permitted up to one week before the start of a course, subject to a £25 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 72 hours before the start of a course. Students who do not attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments do not have the right to a refund. Access The workshop takes place in the upper gallery which is not suitable for wheel chair access. Please notify the Gallery if participants have physical disabilities or special learning needs. Tell us about your needs in confidence by or by phone 01787 376796. Safety Aerosol fixative sprays and smoking are not permitted in the building. The use of mobile telephones, radios, personal stereos is not allowed. Please take care of your belongings at all times and never leave valuables unattended. We regret that we cannot be held responsible for the loss of participants’ belongings. Participants must make sure that they take all work and belongings away at the end of the class.
