Stitched & Sparkling: Exploring Texture and Technique A Textile Workshop with Dorothy Ronaldson. Date: Thursday 24th April 2025 Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM This workshop will enable you to create a richly textured composition. Unleash your creativity in this handstitch workshop, designed for stitch enthusiasts with some experience. Together, we’ll craft a richly textured composition using a variety of sumptuous materials. Working on linen within a hoop, you’ll explore an array of textured yarns, ribbons, cords, textile gimps, wire, and an assortment of unique beads—some with a delightful hint of sparkle. Your design can follow a prepared layout diagram or evolve naturally into a linear or organic composition, allowing your artistic instincts to shine. Along the way, you’ll master a variety of stitches and techniques, including couching, knotted stitches, velvet stitch, blanket stitch, satin stitch, pekinese stitch, whipped stitches, needle weaving, gathering, knitting, and crochet. Bead attachment methods, including the use of wire, will also be covered, along with ideas for mounting and framing your finished piece. Whether you’re looking to refine your skills or expand your repertoire, this workshop promises inspiration, exploration and the joy of creating with exquisite materials. What’s included: Materials provided for you ( in a range of colours) include Linen Textured yarn Textile gimp Cord Ribbon Stranded and perle embroidery thread Felt balls Beading thread Wire Beads You would need to bring: Tapestry needles medium and larger size Crewel needle. Small to medium A 20cm diameter wooden embroidery hoop Fabric and thread cutting scissors. Refreshments: Tea, coffee, cakes, and biscuits will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch. Access: Please note this workshop is held in the upper gallery, which is not accessible for wheelchair users. We apologise for any inconvenience. Spaces are limited, so early booking is essential.

Cancellation Policy
Places on our courses will be allocated on a first come, first served basis once payment has been received. Completing the application form without also making payment does not reserve a place on the course. All applicants must pay after submitting their form to guarantee a place on their chosen course. Refunds and Cancellations Cancellations are permitted up to one week before the start of a course, subject to a £25 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 72 hours before the start of a course. Students who do not attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments do not have the right to a refund. Access The workshop takes place in the upper gallery which is not suitable for wheel chair access. Please notify the Gallery if participants have physical disabilities or special learning needs. The use of mobile telephones, radios, personal stereos is not allowed. Please take care of your belongings at all times and never leave valuables unattended. We regret that we cannot be held responsible for the loss of participants’ belongings. Participants must make sure that they take all work and belongings away at the end of the class.
