Discover the Joy of Impasto with Halima Washington-Dixon A Hands-On Oil Painting Workshop Date: Thursday 9th October Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Perfect for both budding artists and more experienced painters looking to explore new techniques, this workshop invites you to dive into the expressive world of impasto oil painting. Working from your own landscape photo reference, Halima will guide you step-by-step in creating a small, richly textured painting using bold colour, thick brushwork, and the luscious quality of impasto oil paint. You’ll be encouraged to let go of perfectionism and enjoy loose, gestural mark-making—capturing the energy and emotion of the landscape under Suffolk skies. Whether you’re building confidence or simply want to embrace the joy of working with thick, buttery paint, this is the perfect workshop to experiment and play. What’s provided: A gessoed 6 x 6 x 1 inch wood panel (with keyhole on the back, ready to hang) What to bring: • A clear landscape reference photo with strong colour (not overly detailed) • Old glass jar with lid (for solvent) • Odourless or natural solvent (for oil paint) • Winsor & Newton Liquin Impasto oil medium (60ml) - NOT ARTISAN • Paper towels or rags • Small brushes (for sketching) • Medium-sized brush • Rounded-tip palette knife • Disposable painting palette • Portable or tabletop easel (optional) Oil colours to bring: • Titanium White • Lemon Yellow • Cadmium Yellow (or equivalent) • Cadmium Red Light (or equivalent) • Alizarin Crimson • Ultramarine Blue • Viridian • Burnt Umber Optional colours: • Phthalo Blue • Permanent Rose • Cerulean Blue Feel free to bring any other favourite colours you'd like to work with. Refreshments: Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits will be provided. What to wear: Comfortable clothes or an apron—some painting involved! Access: Please note this workshop is held in the upper gallery, which is not wheelchair accessible. We apologise for any inconvenience. Spaces are limited – advance booking is essential.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Policy Course Bookings: • Places on our courses are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of payment. • Submitting an application form without payment does not reserve a place on the course. • To guarantee a place, all applicants must pay in full after submitting their form. Refunds and Cancellations: • Cancellations up to 7 days before the course start date: Participants may cancel and receive a refund, subject to a £25 cancellation fee. • Cancellations within 72 hours of the course start date: Refunds will not be issued. • Non-attendance: No refunds will be provided for students who do not attend due to illness, personal commitments, or professional obligations. Course Changes or Cancellations by Mill Tye Gallery: • Mill Tye Gallery reserves the right to cancel or amend courses due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, participants will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. Safety: • Prohibited items: Aerosol fixative sprays, smoking, mobile phones, radios, and personal stereos are not permitted during workshops. • Personal belongings: Participants are responsible for their belongings at all times.
