Alison Coath's Exhibition Preview

04/05/2019

Alison’s exhibition got of to a great start on Saturday. The gallery was full of enthusiastic visitors who enjoyed chatting to the artist. Take a look at this video and see if you can spot yourself or someone you know! The exhibition continues until 28th April.

Throughout April Mill Tye Gallery is hosting an exhibition of mono-prints, drawings, paintings and collages by Alison Coath.

From an orange towel at Shingle Street to the memory of a winter’s walk, Alison’s work has located itself in the quiddity of the single object, the experience of landscape and the recollection of visual phenomena.

Dictated by the inherent qualities of her chosen starting points, Alison uses experimental techniques and materials to realise an eclectic range of images.

Alison gained a degree in ceramics from Bath Academy of Art. Her subsidiary subject was etching and she returned to experiment with printmaking, combining monotypes with stencilling and other techniques. She uses her own photographs, observational drawings and found objects as starting points for the work which often evolves into completely abstract imagery.

Alison "I am really excited to have the opportunity to show a range of my work at the Mill Tye Gallery, especially as it is such a sympathetic space that attracts a wide audience.”

Located at Cornard Mill in Great Cornard, Mill Tye Gallery is open at weekends from 11am-4pm and Fridays from 2.30pm until 6pm.
