Contemporary Textile Collage Workshop A workshop led by textile artist Helena Powell Explore contemporary textile collage by creating a unique mixed-media artwork experimenting with texture, layering and composition. Date: Tuesday 28th July 2026 Time: 10:00am – 3:00pm Price: £60 per person This workshop invites you to create a unique collage artwork using textile scraps, papers and found materials. Drawing on contemporary textile and mixed-media practices, you’ll explore composition, texture and layering to produce a finished piece that bridges craft and fine art. Using materials gathered from previous workshops and Helena’s own practice, this session encourages playful experimentation and creative freedom. All materials are provided. No previous textile experience is required — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Textile collages by @amberlilystudio Suitable for: all levels You will leave with: a completed collage artwork. Refreshments: Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits provided. Please bring a packed lunch. What to wear: Comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting paint on, or an apron. Access: Please note this workshop takes place in the upper gallery, which is not wheelchair accessible. We apologise for any inconvenience. As Summer Artist in Residence, Helena Powell will be present throughout July and August, working in the gallery space on a live loom. Using locally woven Sudbury silk, she will develop new pieces in situ, offering visitors a rare opportunity to observe the rhythms and intricacies of hand weaving as they unfold. Informal demonstrations will take place regularly, inviting audiences to engage with the material, process and heritage embedded within Powell’s practice. Cancellation Policy Course Bookings: • Places on our courses are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of payment. • Submitting an application form without payment does not reserve a place on the course. • To guarantee a place, all applicants must pay in full after submitting their form. Refunds and Cancellations: • Cancellations up to 7 days before the course start date: Participants may cancel and receive a refund, subject to a £25 cancellation fee. • Cancellations within 72 hours of the course start date: Refunds will not be issued. • Non-attendance: No refunds will be provided for students who do not attend due to illness, personal commitments, or professional obligations. Course Changes or Cancellations by Mill Tye Gallery: • Mill Tye Gallery reserves the right to cancel or amend courses due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, participants will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. Safety: • Prohibited items: Aerosol fixative sprays, smoking, mobile phones, radios, and personal stereos are not permitted during workshops. • Personal belongings: Participants are responsible for their belongings at all times. The gallery cannot accept liability for loss or damage to personal items. • Participants must take all work and belongings with them at the end of the class.
