How to get here...

walk: From Sudbury walk to the Gallery via the Riverside footpath. Approximately 20 minutes

from the Kingfisher Centre

Car Park.

by bike: By road or via the Riverside Footpath. Cycle parking available outside the Gallery.

by car: Mill Tye is sign posted off the Bures Road in Great Cornard, approximately a mile out of Sudbury Town Centre. The turning is opposite the King’s Head Pub. Follow the signs for ‘Bakers Mill’. Parking is FREE in the car park, behind the fence, before the railway level crossing. The gallery is a short walk (approx. 3 minutes) opposite the Mill Pond, before the river, in the old 'Bakers Mill' Building.

by bus: From Sudbury Bus Station look for Chambers 

(No.754)or Beestons (No.5) coaches which stop at the Great Cornard Stop, adjacent to Head Lane (on Bures Road). Full timetables are available from the tourist information centre located at the back of Sudbury's town hall. The Gallery is a 4 minutes walk from the bus stop on the Bures Road. (Normally operated by wheelchair accessible bus).

by train: A frequent rail service runs into Sudbury station from Marks Tey. Trains run from London, Colchester, Chelmsford, Norwich, Clacton and Ipswich into Marks Tey. The Gallery is a 20 minute walk from the Sudbury Station either by road or the Riverside footpath. See also bus service from Sudbury.

Opening Times:

The art gallery and gift shop is open from Thursday to Sunday 10:30am to 4:00pm

The art studio is open Tuesday to Thursday for private art classes and workshops. On Mondays we are only open by appointment. Please contact us if you wish to have a Private Viewing of an exhibition.

Parking:

Parking is in the car park before the level crossing as you turn into Mill Tye. The gallery has three visitors spaces. The gallery is a short walk opposite the Mill pond, before the river, in the old Bakers Mill building.

The Cottage

in Little Cornard, Suffolk 

The cottage is located in the garden of Orchard House in Little Cornard, 2 miles from the Mill Tye Gallery, it includes a bedroom with en suite shower and toilet, and a small sitting room. The bedroom has direct access to the garden, while the sitting room opens onto the patio alongside the driveway. Ruth and Bill Adams provide a delicious continental breakfast of fruit compote (home grown in season), creamy Greek yoghurt, homemade granola, bread, butter, jams and preserves, tea, coffee, fruit juice and fresh milk. Breakfast is provided in The Cottage, so you can help yourself at whatever hour you wish. There is a small fridge, toaster, kettle and crockery and cutlery. An ideal location for exploring the area and staying over night for a workshop or a preview day at the Mill Tye Gallery!

The Pheasant Country Pub

in Gestingthorpe, Essex 

This secluded pub with guest rooms is 3 miles from Hedingham Castle and 8 miles from the Mill Tye Gallery. The 5 vibrant guest rooms feature en suite bathrooms and countryside views. Some also offer private patios and window seats. The pub serves real ales and ciders, and the restaurant offers an upscale British menu. The property's 1-acre gardens include organic vegetable plots and beehives.

About the Gallery

Mill Tye is a small, independent gallery. It’s housed in a beautiful brick-built mill. One that’s been converted into a light, airy studio-exhibition space. One with spectacular views across the river Stour and water meadows. The perfect context for stunning works by local contemporary artists. Admission to Mill Tye Gallery and Arts Centre is FREE.
