We’re thrilled to share that Roj’s portrait ‘Phil’ has been selected for the prestigious Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize and will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery this November. Out of nearly 6,000 entries worldwide, only 57 portraits were chosen – and Roj’s is one of them!

This month’s art club marked a vibrant finale, with students exploring the intricate technique of batik under Eleanor’s expert guidance.

Launching this September, this Printmaking Programme at Gainsborough’s House is a unique opportunity for young adults looking to develop their creative practice outside of formal education. In this month’s Art Club session, students took their first steps into the world of batik through an engaging wax resist activity led by Eleanor Mills. Using white wax crayons and vibrant fabric dyes, the group explored a simplified version of the traditional technique—tracing floral designs and watching as the wax repelled the dye to reveal beautiful, delicate patterns.
