Alison Coath
Alison gained a degree in ceramics from Bath Academy of Art, with a subsidiary focus on etching. Her passion for printmaking later led her to experiment with monotypes, stenciling, and other techniques, allowing her to develop a distinctive abstract style.
Inspired by long walks through the Suffolk countryside, Alison draws from the changing landscapes, shifting light, and intricate textures found in nature. Using her own photographs, observational sketches, and collected objects as starting points, her work evolves organically into striking abstract compositions.
Alison: “I like working experimentally with materials and processes, harnessing chance results to develop my ideas. The landscapes I walk through influence my work, not as direct representations but as abstract impressions of light, space and movement.”
