Community Projects
Making art accessible
through creativity and
collaboration

At Mill Tye Gallery, we believe that art should be accessible to everyone. Alongside our exhibitions and workshops, we work with schools, charities, museums and community organisations to create meaningful opportunities for people of all ages to engage with creativity.
Our community programme brings together practising artists, educators and local partners to deliver projects that inspire confidence, encourage creative thinking and celebrate artistic expression.
Working with Schools
We regularly collaborate with local schools to deliver
artist-led workshops that introduce students to new techniques, materials and ways of thinking.
Recent projects have included a series of creative workshops at Thomas Gainsborough School, where students explored printmaking, textiles, batik, mono printing, mark making and mixed media with professional artists. These sessions encouraged experimentation, developed practical skills and gave young people the confidence to express their own ideas through art.
Supporting Young Artists
Nurturing emerging talent is central to what we do.
Working alongside Gainsborough's House, we have supported the Pulling Prints programme, giving young artists aged 18–25 the opportunity to develop their printmaking skills through professional workshops, mentoring and exhibition opportunities.
The project culminated in a public exhibition at Mill Tye Gallery, showcasing the creativity, ambition and technical achievement of the participating artists while giving them valuable experience of exhibiting in a professional gallery setting.

Partnerships
We are proud to collaborate with organisations that share our commitment to arts education and cultural engagement.
By working with museums, schools, local authorities, community groups and practising artists, we help create opportunities that connect people with the visual arts in inspiring and accessible ways. These partnerships allow us to reach new audiences while supporting creativity across our local community.
Creativity for Everyone
Whether we're welcoming school groups into the gallery, delivering workshops in classrooms, supporting emerging artists or creating community exhibitions, our aim is always the same:
-
To make art accessible
-
To encourage creativity and lifelong learning
-
To support local artists and young people
-
To strengthen connections between art and the wider community.
We see creativity as something that belongs to everyone, and we're proud to play a part in helping it flourish across Suffolk and the surrounding region.
