About the event

Landscapes

An exhibition bringing together a diversity of landscape themes

and a variety of paint and stitch techniques.

We are excited to present an exhibition by Bruce and Dorothy Ronaldson at the Mill Tye Gallery.

The works by Bruce Ronaldson are painted in oil, egg tempera and watercolour. The brushstroke is important, and the perspective often distorted. The paintings are of landscapes close to home as well as scenes painted on holiday in Cornwall and the South of France.

The textiles work by Dorothy is an exploration of how stitch can be used to portray a landscape. Using painted fabric and paper, collage, free machine embroidery and hand embroidery. Texture is an important aspect of the work especially for foreground areas.

Bruce and Dorothy will be in the gallery most weekends and are more than happy to discuss their work and to demonstrate aspects of their creative process.

Preview and meet the artists between 12 noon and 6pm on Saturday 5th October.

Join us for drinks and nibbles. Please RSVP to register your interest.

The exhibition continues until Sunday 27th October 2024.

Gallery opening hours: Thursday to Sunday 10:30am – 4pm

Free admission.

Workshops with Dorothy Ronaldson

Collage and Stitch Landscapes

Textile Art Workshop with Dorothy Ronaldson.

Following the theme of ‘Landscapes’ this is a delightful workshop for those new to stitch and those with more experience. Please don’t let “thinking you can’t draw” be a barrier. It really isn’t. The piece can be abstract, stylised or more traditional and collage is a great way to learn more about landscape composition.
