Service Description

This class is for you if you have always wanted to paint, think you can’t draw or need a refresher. The only qualification is a willingness to try! Each weekly session will begin with drawing skills, using simple exercises to train your eye and connect your hand. This will be followed by coffee and a chat about the painting challenge for the day, exploring the work of various artists. We will then have about 2 hours of painting from photographs, still life or, if weather permits, outside. This course will concentrate on using acrylics. You will need a starter pack of acrylic paints, a palette and some synthetic-hair brushes, plus an A3 sketchbook and a 3B or 4B pencil. Consider buying canvas boards or stretched canvases to work on, although paper is still acceptable. Be aware that some works may take more than one session to complete and may have to be transported wet. What to wear Comfortable clothing that you can move around in with ease. As some of the class could take place outside, please bring warm waterproof clothes and sensible footwear. Light refreshments will be available. Access The course takes place in the upper gallery which is not suitable for wheel chair access. Takes place every week on a Tuesday from 9:30 to 12:30, a total of 4 sessions at £20 for each session, totalling £80. (Tuesday 3rd September to Tuesday 24th September 2024). SPACES ARE LIMITED ON OUR COURSES. BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.
