Sudbury Artists’ Open Studio Trail Weekend | 14–15 June 2025
Sudbury will come alive with creativity this June as the town plays host to a special weekend of open studios, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into the workspaces of some of the area’s most talented artists. Over the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June, art lovers and curious walkers alike are invited to follow the Sudbury Artists’ Open Studio Trail, part of the Suffolk Open Studios initiative and explore the thriving creative scene woven throughout the town.

Featuring painters, ceramicists, printmakers, sculptors, and textile artists, the trail takes visitors through a walkable network of studios scattered across Sudbury. With each stop, you’ll meet the makers in their natural environment, see works in progress and perhaps even take home a unique piece of local art.
Whether you're an art collector, weekend rambler or simply someone looking for a refreshing cultural experience, the Sudbury Art Trail offers something special: a relaxed, friendly opportunity to connect with the artistic life of the town.
Among the highlights, you’ll find Judith Glover’s beautifully expressive ceramics and mixed media pieces in her studio on Friars Street, Cathy D’Arcy's ceramics in Straw Lane, Lesley Galpin’s charming painted furniture and watercolours, and the vibrant canvases of artists like Ilona Johnson, Caryn Noad and Val Bright-Jones.
Also included on the trail is a visit to the Mill Tye Gallery & Arts Centre, located just a short 20-minute riverside walk from the town centre along the scenic Gainsborough Trail. Housed in a converted mill building on the edge of Great Cornard, the gallery specialises in contemporary prints and fine art, with a focus on screen and lino-cut work.
During the Open Studios weekend, the Mill Tye Gallery will host Terry Flower, its June Artist in Residence. Visitors will have the chance to meet Terry, see his works in progress, and learn more about his creative techniques in this informal and inspiring setting.
With studios open both days from 10:30am to 5:00pm, the Sudbury Trail offers a wonderful way to experience the town on foot, combining the joy of discovery with a relaxed summer stroll. Maps and details will be available online and at participating studios.
So pack your walking shoes, bring a friend and join the creative conversation happening right here on your doorstep.
