Stour Valley Oak

Noel Myles is well known for his pictures of trees. His Suffolk Oaks can be seen in Private Collections as far away as 'from New York to Dubai and Melbourne to Toronto'.

Mill Tye Gallery, in conjunction with Noel Myles has produced a range of special limited edition prints of ten copies of each that are exclusively available through the gallery.

They reflect three differing approaches to his subject. The first print is of an Olive Grove in Provence, the second titled ‘A Short Film of December’ comprises of multiple photographs taken during one month alongside the River Stour close to where the gallery is in Sudbury, Suffolk and the third is an Oak standing on the crest of a hill overlooking the Stour Valley from Henny.

Myles' work links photography and printmaking. Hundreds of photographs are taken for each subject over a period of time to provide the raw material for his compositions. 'Stour Valley Oak'  for example, comprises photographs taken during four seasons. A selection is made into a harmonious composition that evokes the broader experience of looking at his subject.
